Aquarena tower block design criticised by public

CONCERNED residents condemned the design of a new £40 million housing development on the derelict Aquarena site at a public consultation on Tuesday night.

Created in partnership between Worthing-based developer Roffey Homes and architects ECE, the design includes a controversial 21-storey tower.

There was widespread praise for previous Roffey developments at the consultation, however, many visitors said they felt the tower was unsuitable for the town.

Bill Geddes, 72, of Lansdowne Road, Worthing, said: “I’m not happy. I think the tower block is inadvisable and will create a precedent that alarms me.”
