According to a study carried out by TopCashback.co.uk which quizzed people across the south, residents spend an average of £221.25 a month on basic errands including pet walking, laundry washing, home cleaning and car washing, because they are either too busy or feel ‘too lazy’ to do it themselves.

Eight in ten residents admit to being too lazy to cook from scratch, choosing instead to spend in excess of £420 a year (£35.02 a month) on takeaways.

The research also reveals car owners have abandoned the Sunday tradition of washing their vehicle and now fork out an average of £9.51 on car cleaning services each month.

South East residents also own up to taking taxis for distances they could easily walk, costing them a monthly average of £16.62.

The study also shows an increasing amount of workers do not prepare packed lunches, which sees them spending an extra £40.46 each month.

When quizzed about how much money they gorge on beauty treatments they could do for themselves, residents say they spend more than £300 a year (roughly £25.84 a month).

Although more women (37 per cent) admit to splashing their cash on pampering, spending £25.91 a month, two per cent of men say they spend £23 a month on their male grooming treatments.

Pet owners admit to spoiling their beloved pooches with spa-style grooming treatments and pet walking services that add an average of £28 to their monthly expenses.

However the research found only eight per cent of residents are insistent on putting their feet up once at home, but those who do shell out an average of £46.13 on private cleaners each month.

The rise in popular laundry apps and services sees South East residents spending a staggering £19.67 a month in exchange for the luxury of someone else dealing with their dirty clothes.
