DETECTIVES investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store in Durrington have released an e-fit image of the suspect.

The man entered McColl’s, in Manor Parade at around 4.30pm last Thursday (March 12).

He entered the shop, wearing all black with his face covered by a balaclava, threatened a shop worker with a knife and demanded she hand over money.

He took money from a till and fled on an old children’s bike towards Pond Lane via Salvington Road and Durrington Lane.

Detective sergeant Simon Smith said: “Thankfully the shop worker wasn’t hurt but extremely shaken by what happened.

“A witness saw the man leaving the shop and was able to describe him as white, between 35 and 40, around 5ft 8ins, unshaven, with thick dark hair cut into a ‘basin’ style. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and joggers.”

Anyone who saw the man cycling away in the area or who may recognise him is asked to contact police on 101 or email quoting serial 1106 of 12/03.

Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555 111.
