Armed robbery at Goring betting shop

A ROBBER with a small hand-gun confronted staff in a Goring betting shop last night (Monday, February 9).

Police say the man, who was wearing a balaclava, entered the Ladbrokes betting shop on Limbrick Corner, Palatine Road, at around 8.30pm.

Two women members of staff were confronted by the man, who produced a hand-gun and demanding money.

Police say he left with "an amount of cash".

The man is described as white, aged 25 to 30, of medium build and wearing a balaclava and a dark coloured hooded top.

He was wearing gloves and in possession of a small black hand gun.

DS Colin O'Hare, who is leading the investigation, said: "No one was injured during the robbery although staff were obviously shaken.

"I would appeal to any witnesses to the robbery or anybody with information that may help with the inquiry to contact the Worthing detectives on 0845 60 70 999, quoting serial 1661 9/2/9, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
