Two men have been arrested following a burglary at a town centre mobile phone shop today (Wednesday, December 12).
Police were called to T-Mobile in Montague Street, Worthing, shortly after 12am, when the shop’s intruder alarm was activated.
Using local CCTV and unmarked vehicles in the town, they managed to locate the suspects’ vehicle.
The vehicle then headed northbound along the A24 and was later stopped by police officers at the Capel roundabout, aided by officers from Surrey. The males were arrested and a quantity of mobile phones were recovered.
Detective Sergeant Alex Lowe said: “At this time of year there is often an increase in this type of offence as criminals try to cash in on Christmas.
“Worthing officers conducted a well co-ordinated and effective investigation which led to the early arrest of the offenders.
“This demonstrates that if you commit this type of crime, you will get caught.”
The men, a 21 year-old from Brighton and a 41 year-old, remain in custody.
