Art Society exhibition shouldn't be ignored

MP Greg Barker opened the Bexhill Art Society exhibition yesterday morning and described the event as a 'perk' of his job.

Chairlady Christine Maclean commented: "I think we have got some excellent artists in the Society. They are all levels, and we take all levels right from beginners. I started about 12 years ago and I was not a painter - I had never painted. I would not say I was one of the best now, but how I have come on in ten years is amazing.

"That is what we do - we help each other, we have workshops, days out painting, painting groups, so you are learning all the time. There is a lot of elderly people in Bexhill, although we have people working as well; this is a good activity for the elderly - and they shouldn't be ignored."
