Assault suspects are believed to be street drinkers

POLICE believe two street drinkers assaulted a 60-year-old woman sat on a bench.

The attack happened between 11.45am and 12.30pm on the promenade, in East Worthing, on Wednesday, July 1.

The victim was sitting on a seafront bench using her mobile phone when she was punched in the face and had her phone thrown to the ground.

She suffered swelling to her right eye and bruising under her chin, but did not go to hospital. There are believed to be two suspects.

The first is a white woman, aged 20 to 30, 5ft 10ins, of medium build and with light hair, tied back with a hair accessory. She was wearing light coloured clothing and had a strong northern accent.

The second suspect is a white man, aged 20 to 30, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, with wispy, shoulder-length hair He was wearing a light coloured top. Both suspects are believed to be street drinkers.
