Auditions for festival plays open

Youngsters between the ages of 13 and 19 will have the opportunity to audition, rehearse, and perform as part of the National Theatre Connections festival.

Auditions are to be held at Durrington Community Centre on Monday, October 20 between 6pm and 8pm.

The performances will take place at the Connaught Theatre, in Union Place, in April 2015.

Director, choreographer, and drama teacher Charlotte Ewart, who is running the initiative, said: “There are many excellent groups in the area that focus on musical theatre but nothing for those who are interested in exploring and performing straight plays.

“Fortunately my links with the National Theatre meant I could start something new and exciting here in Sussex.

“I’ve chosen two plays, both quite different in style and approach, one of which will be part of the National Theatre Connections festival.

“The children can also take part in every aspect of production including stage management, lighting and sound so there is something for everyone.”
