This year is the diamond jubilee of Christian Aid Week, which launched on Sunday, and local diamonds Alan Crouch, Elizabeth Clark, Peter Cronin and David Burt have between them clocked up more than 100 years’ service.

They were presented with awards by Christian Aid at the annual United Service last Wednesday for all the work they have put into volunteering.

Christian Aid has been supporting refugees and fighting poverty since 1945 and the charity launched Christian Aid Week in 1957 to help fund this ongoing work.

The Rev Dr Hazel Sherman, from West Worthing Baptist Church, said: “The local group is on the lookout for keen and able volunteers, especially in the roles of treasurer and secretary.”
