Awards for ATC men

TWO members of 2530 (Uckfield) Squadron Air Training Corps were presented with awards for their service to the squadron and the corps by the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex, Mrs Phillida Stewart-Roberts.

Warrant Officer Alan Mitchell, who has been with the squadron since he started as a cadet over 30 years ago, was awarded a Meritorious Certificate.

He organises the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and is the Squadron Training Officer.

Cadet Warrant Officer Mark Sonsthagen, 18, who has been with the Squadron as a cadet for four-and-a-half years, was given the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet Award.

He has recently started at Aberystwyth University and also helps at the local squadron at Aberystwyth during term time.
