Celtic Nights provided the music free of charge to help the charity and more than 100 people attended the fundraising event at Rustington Memorial Hall, in Woodlands Avenue, on Saturday.

Derek Moore, project leader at Arun Sunshine Group, said: “With the sale of tickets and a raffle, we managed to raise a fantastic sum of £1,400.

“To mine and the surprise of all those attending, we were also given a donation of £1,000 by Andrea Glasgow, premier banking manager at Barclays in Worthing. She said that the bank would match £1 for each £1 we raised up to £1,000.

“So, the total for the night was £2,400, which is more than one third of the amount we need to raise each year to keep the group going.

“We would like to thank everyone for their efforts, especially the event organisers, Mr Terry and Mrs Sharon Evans, and also Barclays Bank in Worthing for match funding the money raised.”

Arun Sunshine Group meets at Dove Lodge, 49 Beach Road, Littlehampton, on alternate Sundays from 2pm to 5pm.
