La Belle, in Brighton Road, Worthing, celebrated three years in business with a charity day, to raise money for Babybuddy.

And Worthing mayor Bob Smytherman had the opportunity to try out one of the treatments himself, in an attempt to pull in more funds.

Discount treatments and taster sessions were also on offer, raising a total of £179 for the charity.

Owner Sonia Martin, 25, set-up the business after holding a long-standing dream to open a beauty salon.

She said: “Business is booming at the moment.

“I always wanted to own a salon, and once I qualified as a beauty therapist, I set-up my own business from a garage at my mum and dad’s house.

“Then I had to set up in these premises.”

Sonia’s business has now expanded to employ half a dozen members of staff, and additional treatment facilities.

Sonia said: “I didn’t think I would be doing anywhere near as well as I have done.

“It was a lot of hard work to get to this stage, but I never gave up.

“I am really pleased with how it is going.”
