Beckley

Sunday was the pet service at Beckley church. It was a beautiful sunny morning; the service was enjoyed by ponies, dogs of all sizes, tortoises, children and adults. Thank you to Bill for a lovely service.

The parking of cars and work vans on the pavements in Beckley Main Street, especially by the Old Post office, when there is an event on at the village centre. It has been an ongoing pet hate for local people. This problem has been reported to the local police. Please make people aware that parking on pavements you can be reported and find will be given. It just takes a minute to check if you have left enough room for a mother and push chair to get through! They shouldn’t have to go on the main road to pass your car or van.

Here to help” is in the need of volunteers in the Beckley area as there is only one volunteer who is now getting very busy. They help Elderly and young people when they first come out of hospital. It might be offering transport to the doctor or hospital, even doing a little shopping or helping to cook a meal. Fuel is paid please if you can spare some time to this great cause call for more details 01797280377.

The Better Beckley project, A village led project to upgrade the facilities in the Jubilee Field and improve the conservation and wildlife assets in the adjacent Frog Field, opening it up for the leisure and education.

There is a widespread support for a more ambitious approach to the quality of amenities in the jubilee field largely focussed around seeking ways to significantly improve play facilities so families don’t have to travel to nearby villagers to use the resources there. Coupled with this there is a less well known but still very important movement to make more of the frog field by enhancing it and opening it up for leisure and education. Both fields are the village assets owned by the parish council and therefore belong to all of us. The better Beckley project is an initiative started up by a small group of villagers to come up with a plan that achieves both objectives under one umbrella.

If you want to be involved and find out more about this fabulous project. There is a Facebook group “Better Beckley” it’s been set up as an open group so anybody can join. Also there are flyers around the village with more contact information.

So that residents are aware they can contact our District Councillor Ian Jenkins via e mail. This will help the parish by giving you more immediate responses to questions or concerns. [email protected].
