Bedroom fire in Worthing

Fire crews were called to a bedroom fire at a family home in Ruskin Road, Worthing at 08.42 this morning.

Three engines were needed to tackle the blaze which completely destroyed the first-floor bedroom.

One male casualty was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but was not taken to hospital.

Firefighters needed breathing apparatus to enter the building, where they also rescued two animals including a chinchilla.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
