Bexhill mum, 46, dies in crash

POLICE are working to establish how a 46-year-old Bexhill mother was killed in a head-on collision.

Officers from the Sussex Police Road Policing Department at Polegate were hoping to confirm a formal identification of the victim on January 14.

The woman was driving her green Peugeot 306 along the A259 towards Hastings Pier when the accident happened just before midday on January 11.

Her car collided with a blue Mercedes van travelling in the opposite direction. The Peugeot was on the wrong side of the road at the time of the crash but police do not know why.

The seafront road was closed from Schwerte Way to Warrior Square for four hours with a diversion put in place by police.

The 35-year-old van driver, also from Bexhill, suffered minor injuries. There were no passengers in either car and no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Several bouquets of flowers with heart-felt messages attached to them have been placed at the scene.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death.
