Bexhill school's Princess Diana Award

GLYNE Gap School received an unexpected commendation when it was awarded a Silver Certificate from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for young people.

The award has been presented to thank the special needs school for its continuous support in nominating outstanding pupils for awards.

The Silver Certificate is being awarded for the first time, and is given to schools that have nominated pupils for a Diana Award three and four times.

Schools can make an award once a year to an individual or group of young people aged between 12 and 18 years of age in recognition of outstanding service to their school or community or for achieving personal development in difficult circumstances.

The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award believes that schools awarded a Silver Certificate are among the best in the country at fostering values in their students that go beyond individual achievement in academic or sporting qualifications.

Diana Award students have been involved in a wide range of projects including anti-bullying, peer mentoring, caring, fundraising and recycling programmes.
