Big Picnic celebrates '˜life'

The United Response Big Picnic last Friday was attended by people the charity works to support and the wider community.

The charity, based in Fort Road East, Littlehampton, had an information stand and provided a tombola, picnic nibbles and various garden games. There was also music from a radio station dedicated to promoting mental health.

Vicky Arnell-Smith, service manager, said: “The day was a fantastic success. The people we support at United Response were involved in all aspects of organising the event. For them, it was a great way to get involved in the community while having a fun day out and raising awareness of mental health services.

“Well over 100 people attended, with ages ranging from small children to people in their 80s. There were lots of fun activities including fairy cake decorating for the kids, giant dominoes and croquet.

“We also had an art workshop called Make your Mark, where people could design their own postcards. All the activities, along with food and music, drew in a huge crowd.”
