POLICE officers will be at the clock tower in Worthing town centre on May 2 between 11am and 3pm as part of an attempt to reduce the number of bikes stolen across the county.
Operation Velo is an initiative which was launched in West Sussex at the beginning of the year and uses a new way of marking and registering bikes.
Sussex Police has been hosting free events at locations where officers have been marking, registering and offering advice about the best way to secure cycles.
PC Tim Jose, who works on the initiative. said: “Our marking events are going from strength to strength with bike marking events already showing significant results across the areas where the initiative has been run. Recent marking events in the town centre were very well received and over 80 bikes were marked in all.
“Cyclists will be able to come along to the event and speak to the team about registering their bicycle and to get advice about different types of locks.”
