Bikers brave zip wire for Brighton residents

The team of bikers plunged 150 feet from the top of the charity’s centre building in Ovingdean to help raise money.

Members of Scallywags MCC Sussex from Littlehampton and Worthing together with Norsemen MCC Sussex from Hastings and friends took up a sponsored zip wire challenge laid down by the Royal Marines.

In doing so, the clubs managed to raise more than £1,100 for Blind Veterans UK.

Scallywags Vice President, Jay Bull, from Littlehampton, was one of those who completed the challenge.

He said: “It was a fantastic day, it was great to be able to do something to help those who have given so much for their country.”

Martin Humphries, Norseman president, said: “On behalf of the Norsemen MCC I would like to thank everybody who donated to raise a great amount for such a worthy cause.”

Scallywags MCC Sussex are a mixed motorcycle club who hold regular evenings around the county, open to all riders on two wheels or three.

Blind Veterans UK is a charity providing training and rehabilitation to blind ex service men and women.

The Brighton centre offers holidays, respite, residential and nursing care for members.
