LOCAL residents are busy collecting as many used biscuit wrappers as possible for the 2014 Biscuit Wrapper Roundup Collection Contest.

The initiative is designed to help support the local environment and the NSPCC Lancing District.

The top 20 collectors nationwide will win a share of a combined £500-worth of charity donations.

The NSPCC Lancing district is asking local people to help them with their collections in an attempt to be crowned the 2014 Biscuit Wrapper Roundup champions.

The competition runs from September 15 to December 15 2014, giving the 20 top collectors a chance to win contributions of £125, £75, £25, and £10 to their chosen school, charity or non-profit organisation.

In addition, the top two collectors will also receive a McVitie’s goodie bag.

Any biscuit wrapper sent in during the competition period is also worth double the usual TerraCycle points, making it a four pence contribution, rather than the usual two pence.

Collection boxes are available at The Co-op, Queens Parade, Lancing; The Garden Centre, Findon; The Children and Family Centre at 42 North Road, Lancing; and The Children and Family Centre, at 42 Upper Bandstone Lane, Lancing.

Any brand of used biscuit wrapper, baby food pouches, baby wipes packaging and coffee refill bag, coffee bean bag, plastic coffee jar lid and single serve coffee sticks, plus Tassimo T-DISCs and outer flow wrap packaging can be recycled.

TerraCycle will provide regular Leader board and Facebook updates.
