Bizarre animals on the loose in community hub

The bizarre animals seem to have been made form all sorts of odds and ends by youngsters attending the Strange Creatures Pet Shop at the Sompting Big Local Hub over the past week.

Artist Jane Gordon has been overseeing the project.

“As part of the Adur Festival in Sompting the idea has been an overwhelming success,” she said.

“Every day we have children in, some are back for their second or third time.

“Even the parents and grandparents have been getting involved with gluing and sticking.”

Some of the strange creatures are hanging from the ceiling, others stuck to the window and even more are safely tucked away in their specially-designed cages.

“At night the pet shop is lit up and many people have been seen to just stand and wonder at the creations,” said Trevor Crowter, Sompting Big Local co-chairman.

“There is a suggestion that they even come to life as in the morning some can be found back on the floor or missing from the window!”
