Blaze destroys Beeding house roof

A BLAZE destroyed the roof of an end-of-terrace house in Upper Beeding.

Firefighters from Steyning, Shoreham and Henfield were called to the house in Pound Lane at 12.30pm last Wednesday, along with a Red Cross support unit.

The neighbouring house, with its connecting roof, was also damaged in parts by the blaze, believed to have been caused by a fault in an electric extractor fan.

District fire chief Roy Barraclough said: "It took about an hour to get it under control. As it was in the roof, it was difficult to extinguish."
