Diageo, the retirement association for Guinness Hop Farms, is to have a lunch at the Castle Inn, Bodiam, on March 7, with pre-lunch drinks served from 12.15pm. There will be one complimentary drink on arrival and lunch served at 1pm. There will be no charge for Diageo pensioners, but £6 for the person who accompanies the Diageo pensioners. Bodiam Community Friends now has a chairman, or chairlady, Virginia Gilbert. The treasurer is Tony Sandlers. The secretary and the constitution is agreed, the bank account is with the Co-op. The Friends can do with more volunteers and the date of the launch will soon be made. The next meeting is on February 16, 6pm in the Castle Inn.

The next service at St Giles will be the Family Service at 11.15am on February 3. The vicar of Bodiam Gordon, with lay reader Jenny Liverton, will take the service. Also at this service you will get refreshments.

The Castle Inn is to have a quiz night on February 8 in aid of the bonfire night, with teams of six with £7.50 per person to include supper. For more information and to book phone 01580 830330.

It is never too late to say sorry as I was to read that our district councillor for Bodiam, Graham Browne’s mum had died. Graham you have my condolences and many more I am sure.

Diana Boulding, who with her family for sometime had a home in Levetts Lane before her marriage to Bob Goldsmith, has died, aged 66. A funeral service has taken place.
