Bognor chorister's award success

A CHORISTER from a Bognor Regis church has proved her ability with religious music.

Leanne McCaffrey (15), of St Wilfrid's Church, pictured here, achieved a credit mark when she took the Bishop's Award examination.

She was presented with her award by the Bishop of Chichester, the Rt Rev John Hind, in his private chapel.

The award is part of the Chichester Diocesan chorister award scheme.

Before choristers can attempt it, they must pass the Dean's Award. This involves singing an anthem, two hymns and a psalm as well as singing a piece at sight and answering questions on the church's year.

A good pass at Dean's enables choristers to sit the much tougher Bishop's Award.

This involves a greater level of study, more singing and a more detailed understanding of the annual calendar of the church.
