Bognor Regis man jailed for Chichester burglary

A BOGNOR Regis man has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to burgling a home in Chichester.

Mariusz Minko, 28, of Victoria Drive was arrested last Autumn as a result of enquiries by West Sussex detectives.

As well as the burglary of the Chichester home in August of last year, Minko was convicted of handling stolen goods from other burglaries in West Sussex between March and August of 2012.

He was sentenced on January 25 at Lewes Crown Court.

Detective Constable Neil James said: “As a result of our enquiries we identified Minko as a burglar and we recovered a large quantity of stolen property.

“Most of it has been identified and restored to its owners, but we are hoping that any other victims will still visit the website www.http://property.sussex-police.co.uk/patron/ to see if they can identify any of the outstanding property.

“We think these remaining items may have come from burglaries in the Chichester and Bognor areas between January and August last year, so if you think they may be yours please contact us via the website or at Chichester CID via 101.

“The sentencing of Minko marks another step in our efforts to crack down on burglaries.

“If you have any information about this type of crime, please contact us, in confidence, via 101. You can also call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.”
