Bognor Regis shoppers warned to watch out for thieves

PCSO Michelle Davies, of the town’s police station, said: “There have been several reports of wallets and purses being taken from people’s pockets or bags and from handbags left on supermarket trolleys.

“Do not carry items like wallets and purses in easily accessible pockets.

“Anyone shopping with a bag should ensure it is close to their person, preferably with the opening towards their body and closed shut.”

It was also best for a person to place a bag with a long strap over their head and across their body – and ensure bags were not left unattended on trolleys.
