Bognor Regis to keep weekly bin collections

Unlike the majority of local authorities Arun District Council has said it will not axe weekly collections.

A spokeswoman for Arun District Council said: “Arun is committed to continuing with its weekly refuse collections.

“Our residents have told us they do not want fortnightly collections.”

Environment secretary Caroline Spelman unveiled her waste review on Tuesday, June 14, – and refused to make councils scrap the controversial fortnightly collections.

This is despite warnings of a rise in fly-tipping by households fed up of waiting for bins to be emptied.

Local government secretary Eric Pickles has said he is determined to find a way to bring back weekly collections.
