Bognor's new drive for clean water

Pressure to ensure the sea water off Bognor Regis meets the highest standards is being kept up by town council members.

They used their March meeting to repeat their calls to get together with the Environment Agency and Southern Water to campaign for an upgrading of the treatment of sewage and wastewater before it enters the sea.

They also want to know Southern Water's plans for dealing with the sewage and rainwater run-off from the 1,350 homes being built in North Bersted and Felpham because of fears this could affect sea water quality.

The Observer reported recently it could take until 2015 before Bognor's sea is improved.
