Book fair at King Offa

There's plenty for young readers at King Offa school where a two-week book fair is being held.

Key Stage 2 leader Barbara Taylor said: "We have got a good selection of books, and we are also going to have parents come in and look and maybe read them with the children during the afternoon.

"I think it does encourage children to read.

"All the children have got a World Book Day voucher they are anxious to spend so we try to provide them with the best opportunity and high quality books to buy."

The event is part of the National Year of Reading attempt to get youngsters to learn to love books - from the Harry Potter series to popular adventure and fantasy by Terry Pratchett, Michael Morpurgo, Anthony Horovitz and the ever popular Jacqueline Wilson.

Barbara commented: "There is quite a lot of variety - there should be something for everyone there.

"We started the bookfair on Friday when it was our May fair. We made 200 which was good, and we have the book fair for two weeks this year...we are hoping for a good response."
