Boy raises money for hospital which treated his mum for breast cancer

A BOY who decided to do a sponsored scooter ride after his mother was diagnosed with cancer has raised more than £3,000 for Worthing Hospital.

Amanda Lambe was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, 2010, and had a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the illness.

Back in April, the Herald reported on her son, seven-year-old Billy, who decided he wanted to raise money for the breast unit of Worthing Hospital with a sponsored scooter ride.

Amanda, of Hayling Rise, said she initially thought it would be only her and Billy taking part in the sponsored scooter ride, but was stunned when more than 100 people joined in.

The scooter ride was held in May from Marine Gardens to Worthing Pier and back again, and 120 people took part.
