Eight bands played the 12 hour concert, between 10am and 10pm, inside the St Paul’s Centre, in Chapel Road, Worthing, in aid of Children in Need.

In total, £1,402.35 was raised.

Event organiser and musical director of the Worthing Silver Band, Laura King, hailed the event as the best yet.

She said: “I’m really thrilled. It’s more than we raised last year. Every year it’s just got bigger and better.”

According to Laura, one woman went into the venue for a cup of tea and ended up staying for seven hours.

Worthing’s town crier Bob Smytherman spent most of the day outside the venue encouraging people to attend and the ever-popular Pudsey Bear posed for photographs.

“Children in Need is a fantastic charity,” said Laura. “People really respond to it which is really important when you put on this sort of event.”

The concert finished with a massed band performance.
