BREAKING: Car crashes through wall and into van in Ferring

PASSERS-BY looked on incredulously as a car drove through a wall and into the path of a moving van this afternoon.

A silver BMW X5, with two women inside, crashed through Ferring Village Hall’s car park wall and travelled across the pavement before it made contact with a black Volkswagen van in Ferring Street, Ferring.

The driver of the BMW was cut free from the car by the fire service’s heavy duty team and taken to hospital in an ambulance. The passenger also received medical attention.

The driver of the black benchmark Volkswagen van, Jason Doe, 42, of Rowlands Road, Worthing, escaped the crash with shoulder pain.

He said: “She drove straight through the wall, over the pavement and into the road. It is a good job no-one was on the pavement really.

“It was shocking. I was not going fast, let’s just hope she is alright.”
