BREAKING NEWS: Durrington murder suspect appears in court

A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Syden Pearson.

Kai Orgles, 19, from Moore Close, Durrington, appeared at Worthing Magistrates' Court on Tuesday accused of stabbing Mr Pearson to death during a fight in Shelby Road at around 10.45pm on Friday, January 31.

Orgles spoke to confirm his name, age and address and said "I love you. Come and see me" to his sobbing girlfriend as he was led down from the dock to the court cells.

District Judge Roger Ede ordered that he be remanded in custody until a hearing at Lewes Crown Court on February 17.

He refused an application by Soheila Richardson, defending, for him to be released on bail to live with his grandmother, Rose Orgles, in Catford, London.

Kirsten Sharp, prosecuting, said Pearson had sustained five stab wounds to the stomach area.

Mrs Richardson said Orgles had carried a knife for protection after he was attacked three weeks previously by two men and had been stabbed in the hand, a wound which required 26 stitches.
