BREAKING NEWS: Emergency incident off Worthing coast

REPORTS are coming in of an emergency incident off the coast of Worthing in which a fishing boat is believed to have sunk.

The Herald and Gazette understands that lifeboat teams from Littlehampton and Shoreham have today (July 16) been scrambled to help four sailors after their vessel sunk.

The crews are being assisted by the coastguard helicopter team, a source at the RNLI has confirmed, and have been conducting a search about four miles off the coast.

It’s understood that four people have been recovered and are being assessed aboard a Shoreham lifeboat vessel and are expected to be taken back to Shoreham’s lifeboat station.

Information is still coming in about the incident which remains on-going.
