BREAKING NEWS: Worthing flat block evacuated after fire

FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a man and are searching a Worthing flat block, after a fire broke out today (Thursday, May 6).

A man was rescued from his first floor flat in the Fairfields block, on Broadwater Road, around 9.30am this morning.

Fire crews from Worthing, Shoreham and Lancing, are still at the scene and have evacuated the block.

It is thought the fire was contained to the one flat, but firefighters have been searching the block to make sure no-one else is inside.

The rescued man '“ said to be in his 60s and a zimmer frame user '“ has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.
