BREAKING NEWS: Worthing teenager knocked off his bicycle in hit and run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist knocked down a cyclist on a roundabout in Worthing and drove off.

The 16-year-old boy was on a black BMX on the Littlehampton Road roundabout at its junction with Yeoman Road in Durrington when he was hit by a silver car heading east on the roundabout at about 7.50pm yesterday (Wednesday September 25).

He suffered bruising to his knee and hip.

The car did not stop and continued towards the Centenary House roundabout.

PC Ben Henwood said: “The driver made no attempt to stop after knocking down the teenager, who was lucky not to have been very seriously hurt.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the silver car being driven in the moments beforehand. Please contact us if you know who was behind the wheel.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 1428 of 25 September or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
