THE annual Broadwater Carnival procession was watched by hundreds of people as floats and troupes of performers wound their way through the streets last Saturday (July 21).

Saturday’s carnival, which went from Worthing High School to Broadwater Green, took on the theme of children’s TV characters this year.

The winning float was called Peppa Pig goes to the seaside and was created by Worthing and District Scope. Chief executive Pauline Fox believed the reason they won was because everything on their float was donated by people in the community.

She said: “We have begged and borrowed everything. The council gave us buckets and spades, and people dug out rubber rings and even a huge shark.

“It has just been a work of art really.”
