Burglar chased off after Worthing break-in

A MAN who caught a burglar in his kitchen chased after him and snatched his wife's purse back.

The burglar sneaked in through the unlocked back door of the house in Teville Road, Worthing, just after 9pm on Thursday (November 12), as the couple watched TV in their lounge.

On hearing a noise, the husband went to see what was happening and saw the man pick up his wife's purse and run through the back door.

The husband chased the burglar and caught up with him near Teville Gate. Police sergeant Ian Kerr said the husband "grabbed him by the scruff of the neck" and managed to get his wife's purse back.

Police are still trying to trace the burglar, who is described as in his late 20s, 5ft 9in to 6ft tall, with short, light brown hair and wearing a dark grey and silver hooded jacket.
