This was the ninth year of the celebration lunch, held at the Ardington Hotel, in Steyne Gardens, Worthing, organised by Peter Kennard of H.D. Tribe and Derek Steel of Jacobs Steel estate agents.

Mr Kennard said: “It’s the ninth year we’ve done it and it always sells out.

“Everyone seems to enjoy it and we raise a lot of money for a good cause.”

The event, which in past years has raised more than £8,000, aims to raise money for Guild Care’s Sunday Lunch Club, held at the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre situated within Haviland House in Durrington.

The club offers local families experiencing dementia the chance to come and have a meal together within a safe environment where they are free from concerns regarding how they might behave or whether they will become distressed.

The event has previously attracted the likes of Matt Le Tissier and Chris Eubank as guest’s of honour, with this year playing host to former England Rugby player, Peter Winterbottom.

Mr Winterbottom made his England début in 1982, aged just 21, where he helped his team to beat Australia 15-11.

Since then he went on to play in two World Cups in 1987 and 1991, became the second England player to reach 50 caps and in 2005 he was inducted into the Twickenham Wall of Fame.
