MILLIONS of pounds is going to be spent on a face-lift for a busy store in Worthing, creating 10 new jobs in the process.

Debenhams, in South Street, is due to finish its multi-million pound overhaul by September, with everything from the restaurant to the cosmetics hall being revamped.

The cosmetics hall, on the ground floor, will grow by 1,500 sq ft, and as a result the store will be introducing new beauty brands such as Bare Minerals, Benefit and YSL.

Sharon Clarke, Worthing town centre manager, said: “It is great when you have got a leading blue chip company creating jobs in the town, and having the confidence to be investing that amount of money in Worthing.”

The restaurant has also been revamped, and a childrenswear offering, new changing rooms, toilets, baby change and a personal shopper will all be introduced.

Store manager Ros Stanway said: “There’s a real buzz among colleagues about the changes taking place in store and we’re confident customers are going to love the new and improved shopping experience.

“We’d like to apologise for the disruption, we are trading as normal during the transition and once complete, we’ll be able to offer shoppers of Worthing a first class shopping experience.”
