THE outside of a Worthing convenience store is a hive of activity as a colony of bees work to create a nest.

Swarming bees filled the air outside Martin’s in Littlehampton Road, Worthing, shortly after midday capturing the attention of passing motorists and pedestrians.

More interested in beginning work on a nest than passers-by, the bees soon turned their attention to the outer wall of the convenience store.

Jay Huet, 29, of Findon Road, Findon Valley, was looking at a job advert in a neighbouring window when he spotted the bees.

He said: “I’ve not seen anything like it. It looks like the wall is actually moving where it’s covered with bees.”

Kevin Lyndon-Adams, 30, of Bruce Avenue, Worthing, added: “I thought it was lots of tiny flies to start with. I think they are creating a nest there. The Queen is settled and they’re just starting to make it now.”
