Butcher from Loxwood wins at Sussex Food and Drink awards

A LOXWOOD butcher celebrated victory at the annual Sussex Food and Drink awards.

John Murray, who runs John Murray Butchers in The Parade, took home the trophy for Sussex butcher of the year at the event on Thursday, January 31.

“I am so proud to accept this - I couldn’t do any of this without my staff... they’re such a good team,” he told the audience at the Amex stadium in Brighton,

Mr Murray also thanked his wife Lily for her support.

Petworth-based food shop The Hungry Guest went home empty-handed, as did Caroline’s Dairy in Sidlesham.

Chichester Farmers’ Market lost out on the award for best Sussex farmers’ market to Lewes Farmers’ Market.
