Fire crews were called out to reports of a small car fire outside Durrington Infant School this afternoon, according to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for the service said: “We received a call at 3.29pm of a fire outside the library at Durrington Infant School, in Salvington Road, Worthing.

“On arrival, we determined it was a false alarm and was in fact an electrical fault with the car.

“The gentleman had reported seeing smoke from under the bonnet which turned out to be a small electrical fault.

“Crews left the scene at 3.40pm.”
