Care home chef cooks her way into national final

A COOK from a Worthing care home has reached the national final Care Cook of the Year 2015 culinary competition.

Becky Allcorn, from Hanover Housing Rotary Lodge care home, in St Botolph’s Road, Worthing, triumphed in the south east regional heat after impressing judges with her menu of stuffed chicken parcel (lactose free) followed by orange and cranberry lactose free bread and butter pudding

The brief required Becky to produce a tasty and nutritionally balanced two-course menu, main and dessert, suitable for service users in a care setting and with a total food cost of no more than £1.50 per head based on four portions, in just 90 minutes.

On Wednesday, June 10, Becky will compete in a live cook-off, against ten other talented care cooks from across the country, for the coveted title of Care Cook of the Year 2015.

The competition is organised by the National Association of Care Catering.
