A FORMER Worthing care home is to be converted into 19 new flats and bed-sitting rooms.

Borough planning councillors last Wednesday agreed to the change of use of Trevine Court, 2-4 Southey Road, into: six one-bedroom flats; two two-bedroom flats with own gardens; one studio; and 10 bed-sitting rooms (six with en-suite bathroom/shower rooms, two with cloakrooms, and two with hand-basins; communal bathrooms and kitchens to ground and first floors.

Planning permission was obtained last year for Trevine Court to be converted into 25 bed-sits. But this scheme was abandoned because it had proved “unacceptable for any banks or financial institutions to finance the project, owing to the restrictive temporary and personal conditions”.
