The next WI meeting will be on Thursday 7th February at 2pm when the speaker will Mel Rees giving a talk entitled ‘Brought to Book’ – My Family and Other Setbacks, intriguing eh? Come along and find out what it’s all about! There will be the usual delicious tea and a raffle with lots of good company and chance for a chat.

The next fundraising event for the parish church of St Laurence will be on Saturday 9th February when a Family Bingo Night will be held in the Village Hall at 7 pm. Refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle. Tickets cost £6 for six games and will be on sale at the door. Do come for what promises to be a fun evening whilst helping to support our beautiful old church.

Have you noticed the new timber posts which have appeared on the corner of Potmans Lane with Church Road? Catsfield Parish Council has taken this action to stop vehicles taking a short cut across the grass verge which is creating deep unsightly ruts. Highways no longer make repairs to damaged verges and so the cost has been borne by Parish Council. Please be considerate by not parking or driving your vehicles across our verges.

Chalkfoot audiences can expect the usual thrilling ensemble performance with a strong element of tongue-in-cheek fun when they return to Catsfield to perform ‘The Prisoner of Zenda’. This is Chalkfoot’s final spring tour, so come along and see this adaptation of the world-famous novel by Anthony Hope. Set in ‘Ruritania’ – a fictional Austro-Hungarian state that provides the setting for a daring identity switch, ‘The Prisoner of Zenda’ is a swashbuckling adventure story.

It all takes place at Catsfield Village Hall on Thursday 28th February @ 7.30 p.m. Tickets £9 {£8 concessions}

Thanks to Ann, our sports correspondent for writing the column last week, her report this week is as follows.

Yet another football fixture was lost to the weather last Saturday. There still remain only eight fixtures to go this season and we hope to play Ore Athletic at home on 2nd February. Rusty but rested is the medical report.

The East Sussex Mobile Library will be in its usual place outside the Village Hall tomorrow, Saturday 2nd February from 4.15pm until 4.45pm
