The Rowans, in Pelham Road, Tarring, is a place where those helped by the centre can socialise with others affected by similar issues as well as providing facilities and activities to rehabilitate them.

Worthing mayor Bob Smytherman and mayoress Norah Fisher attended the party last Wednesday along with the families of those who use the centre and other selected guests.

Ashvin Patel, deputy cabinet member for health and social care, said: “It’s a very unique place, there’s nothing similar to this in the whole of Sussex I believe. The volunteers are excellent, the staff are so friendly people want to come back over and over again.”
