Residents lined the entrance to welcome Terry as he completed the latest leg of his 1,400-mile journey across England.

Terry, who marked his own birthday last Wednesday, said he was keen for older people across the country to feel involved in the national celebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

He added: “I really admire the Queen for all her hard work and for being such a wonderful ambassador for the country.
