Nineteen golfers played the course at Worthing Golf Club, in Links Road, before an evening of entertainment took place in the clubhouse.

More than £2,000 was raised, to be split between the mayor’s four chosen charities: Faith Through Action, Worthing Churches Homeless Projects (WCHP), Go Youth Activities and One Challenge UK.

Sally Peacock, the event organiser, said: “It’s been brilliant. The actual generosity of people has blown me away. We are great friends with the mayor and mayoress and are totally behind the charities they have chosen. We wanted it to be a fun-filled day. It wasn’t all about golf, which is why we chose to do an evening.”
