Paul Logan, 63, of Singleton Crescent, Goring, and his friend Terry Outridge, 65, of London, have set aside 16 days to row from King’s Lynn to Bristol, starting on June 20.

Paul’s wife, Kim, died from secondary breast cancer last year, after being free of the disease for almost five years.

Paul said: “It’s been a very bad time. She almost made it to the watershed part of five years clear, when you’re no more likely than anyone else to develop cancer. When she was diagnosed with metastatic cancer it was a terrible shock. I’ve never met anyone who didn’t like her. She was very much loved by everyone that knew her, no-one had a bad word for her and she never had a bad word for any one in her life. She was kind and gentle.”
